Happy Retirement

Merry Christmas!  I haven't posted here on my blog within this past week because like most of you I've been busy getting ready for Christmas and taking a bit of a break from blogging.  The card I have for today isn't a Christmas card, it's a retirement card but it still sends the message I'd like to convey which is to take some time during this busy holiday season to relax, to have a few peaceful moments and to reflect on what you have to be grateful for.
This card was for a card order and was created for a woman that was retiring and who enjoys reading.  I used the My Favorite Things stamp set Well Read and the PTI stamp set Mega Mixed Messages for the sentiment.  The couch in the image was paper pieced with the rest of the image colored using Copic markers.  I love this image because reading is one of my favorite things to do other than creating cards of course.
As always thank you for your visit and I hope your holidays are filled with love and laughter.

CTD#222/MOJO#271 - Sunshine

Hi there friends!  Are you ready for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge?  It's another fun one with some great colors and an excellent inspiration photo chosen by our hostess for this week, Broni.
For my card I used the colors for this week's challenge and the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge for my layout (which I flipped upside down).  I used the Papertrey Ink stamp set Hello Sunshine and the cloud dies that coordinate with the Heart-2-Heart #6 PTI stamp set.
Be sure to check out what the other design team members have come up with for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge!

PS Trend Watch - Chubby Chums

Hello everyone!  Today I have a card that I created for the Paper Smooches Trend Watch Challenge which was to use Cameras or Polaroids on your card or project.
For my card I used the Paper Smooches stamp set Chubby Chums (this set cracks me up) and for my layout I used the Sketchbook Saturday Challenge as my inspiration.  I started out with a black card base, then added a polka dot embossed red panel and the red & white check designer paper piece with black mat.  After that I added the Polaroid of my chick which I created using my square Nestibilies die.  Some of the details on this card were the sponged clouds behind my chick image, Glossy accents on the chicks eyes, the Washi tape banners and the sentiment banner with button.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

CTD#221/RS#40 - Merry Christmas

It's time for the Color Throwdown Challenge!  Our hostess for this week's challenge is Barbara who chose these wonderful colors and picture to get us all in the holiday spirit.
For the last few month's I've been trying to be really good about not buying new stamps and using what I have, especially holiday stamps.  I've got so many stamp sets that have hardly seen ink and to buy more stamps especially holiday stamps which only get used once a year just doesn't make sense.  For example, the Papertrey Ink stamp set Made of Snow that I used on my card for today, I bought it last year and I am just now starting to use it to create cards.  Don't get me wrong, it's super hard not buying any of the fun new Christmas stamps and dies that came out last month, but I'd just a soon spend my money on something I can use all year long like birthday, thinking of you or get well sets.
That being said...for the card I created today I used the colors from this week's CTD challenge and the layout from the Retro Sketches Challenge #40.
Supplies: Made of Snow + dies, Sending Holiday Cheer (sentiment) Hero Arts, My Mind's Eye dp, Nestibilites, Glitter, Button, Ribbon, Foam tape.

SSSC173 - Santa with Snowflake

Good morning stampers!  It's time for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  I'm running late, so I'll keep this short.  That's what I get for procrastinating, I thought I'd have time during the day today but I was busy putting up our Christmas trees and finishing the decorating so here I am at 12:15am typing up my blog post.
For my card I used the Papertrey Ink stamp set Tremendous Treats Christmas to create a simple little card.  I took Karen's sketch and used it to create a square card instead of a standard size since my image was on the small size.
Be sure to visit each of the Sweet Sunday Stampers below for more samples using the SSS sketch!
